Mathesia: Thought Leadership & Market Positioning in Data Science

Challenge

Mathesia is an academic-business crowdsourcing platform, originally incubated at PoliHub at Politecnico of Milano, focused on solving industrial problems with applied mathematics. The startup needed to build trust among customers and stakeholders and explain the potential of using AI/machine learning technologies and data science to solve business problems.

How we helped

Neue Big supported Mathesia in brand and market positioning, content-driven engagement, knowledge resources, and sales enablement, by delivering:

  • A 2D/3D motion graphic animation video to introduce Mathesia’s crowdsourcing model and value proposition.

  • A use cases booklet to showcase real-world applications and validate the business impact of data-driven problem-solving,

  • The 2019 Data Science Outlook Report, featuring expert research and insights. The research finding was presented by the CEO, Luca Prati, during a company’s event at Museo del ‘900 – Sala Fontana in Milan.

Among the speakers are Alfio Quarteroni, a world-renowned mathematician and Professor; Mauro Berruto, former Head Coach of the Italian Men's Volleyball Team; Aldo Fumagalli, former President of Candy Hoover Group; and Flavio Caroli, an art historian and professor.

The Data Science Outlook Report: Establishing Thought Leadership

The report highlights the views of some of the most renowned international academics in mathematics and data science and presents findings from two surveys conducted with over 100 business managers, practitioners, and academic experts. It also explores the challenges, risks, and benefits of data science, examining its broader impact across industries.

Data Science and AI/ML Ethics

Privacy rights, ownership of data and control over autonomous things and systems represent sensitive risks: who is going to have access to all these data and benefit from it? Automatic decisions based on AI will become a reality, but this needs to be mitigated and regulated by society and politics. The Report reflects on what opportunities and challenges data science present today aiming to stimulate debate and promote dialogue among mathematics researchers, society, and businesses.

Video Animation: Simplifying Data Science & Crowdsourcing Innovation

To support Mathesia’s mission, we produced a 2D/3D animated explainer video, helping the CEO and business team to refine their value proposition and messaging, turning it into a concise, visually engaging script and motion design narrative

The explainer video served two key purposes:

  1. Educating the Market on Data Science – Many business leaders and industrial stakeholders were unfamiliar with how data science, machine learning, and mathematical modeling could drive innovation. The video provided a clear, engaging introduction to these complex technical concepts, bridging the knowledge gap and make data science accessible to non-technical audiences.

  2. Explaining Mathesia’s Crowdsourcing Model – The video outlined how Mathesia connects business problems with top-tier data scientists and mathematicians through its crowdsourcing platform, positioning it as a unique marketplace for applied AI solutions.
