Welcome to Spaaan
Spaaan is a concept developed by Daniela Berto. Inspired by the introduction of a new public framework for digital health applications in Germany, the driver was to create a patient-centred support tool that could help individuals manage their ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) symptoms in a more intentional, engaging and precise way.
The starting point focuses on women who are particularly under-recognised and under-supported.
Research suggests that ADHD symptoms are more subtle and internalised in women and have a different presentation than men, with a predominance of inattention and emotional dys-regulation among others. Hormonal changes may also have an impact on ADHD.
The idea is to explore a digital health solution to support:
(1) Women with ADHD become aware of how ADHD works and focus on the strengths of their neurodivergent brain, and
(2) ADHD clinicians make more accurate decisions, guiding patients through personalised treatment.
The team have been working with women with ADHD, clinical experts, academic researchers, life science advisors who are enthusiastically giving their contribution to bring the project to life.
Spaaan has been part of the Future Health Startup Program 2022/2023 by BIA (Berlin Innovation Agency), funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Senate of Berlin.
